Hey y’all!
I’m Mackenzie Menter (all pronouns), and I’m a writer, producer, and resident accounting expert for Man Up’s Fringe show. Outside of Man Up, I’m an intimacy coordinator, aspiring therapist, and salaried accounting expert. I am thrilled to be fulfilling my Fringe dreams with such a magical show and team of humans! I went to Fringe with a study abroad group ten years ago and have been itching to go back ever since. To get to do it as a comedy writer is something I never could have expected. I was raised in Texas so I have a special kind of rage for the political issues we write about. I can’t thank Hunter and Maggie enough for the show and team they’ve created over the years.
Working on Man Up has been a creative haven for me while I learn how to talk about sex and help people process their trauma. 0/10. Would not recommend grad school, especially two degrees at once. But 10/10 would recommend zeroing in on what you love and going for it! I love writing for this weird little toxic man. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive, talented, twisted af crew to do it with. I’m so grateful to be on this adventure alongside them and for your support on our journey! Thank you!
Chip for President!
Man Up is a women-created comedy show transcending the boundaries of political satire, drag, and social commentary. The show stars Chip Johnson, a blowhard pundit who believes he knows women better than they know themselves (played by comedian Maggie Metnick in drag).
This summer, we are performing Man Up at Edinburgh Fringe, the largest performing arts festival in the world. This is our greatest writing and producing challenge yet, but also an incredible opportunity for Man Up to grow.
