MAN UP Team Spotlight: Nora Schmitt
The brilliant comedian who makes sure we don't get sued
Hi there! I’m Nora Schmitt, a proud member of the Man Up writing team! I’m also Man Up’s unofficial lawyer (turns out the contracts for Fringe are no joke)!
Bringing Man Up to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a dream come true. I went to Fringe in 2017 as a spectator. By then, I had long since given up my fantasy of pursuing comedy in favor of a legal career. But the energy of Fringe sparked a fire in me – since the moment I returned, writing and performing comedy has been a major part of my life.
Returning to Fringe as part of the Man Up team fills my heart with so much joy. I am deeply grateful to be a part of this team of hilarious, whip-smart women!
Man Up is a women-created comedy show transcending the boundaries of political satire, drag, and social commentary. The show stars Chip Johnson, a blowhard pundit who believes he knows women better than they know themselves (played by comedian Maggie Metnick in drag).
This summer, we are performing Man Up at Edinburgh Fringe, the largest performing arts festival in the world. This is our greatest writing and producing challenge yet, but also an incredible opportunity for Man Up to grow.
